Rec Room | Day #5

[ By seven thirty, she's actually grateful Akechi chose a later time as she's had the chance to have a nap and shower before going to the Rec Room to meet him. She's wearing a pretty simple red dress but there's a white belt around the middle as well. The only problem is that it does very little to hide the bite mark on her neck from earlier that afternoon, but the closet of clothes she has been given didn't include scarves so she's... stuck with this for now.

The Rec room isn't a place she's spent too much time in yet, so while she waits for him to arrive she wanders around and examines what there is to do there. On the side she's left something for them to drink (though thinking about it, she isn't sure if wine was the best idea--but it's pretty common at home to drink it so it came as a second thought) too, along with the last box of chocolates she got from the bingo prizes.

She looks up when the door opens, however, smiling at Akechi as she moves to greet her properly. ]

[ He hasn't seen her have the shock of losing and the curses that can follow. ]

It has been a while since I have had the chance to play.

[ I also cannot believe online battleships exists ]

[She's not the only sore, swearing loser in the room. But Akechi is pretty cheerful as he sets up his pieces.]

I haven't played since I was a child. But one never forgets how to play.

[assent]

[ It's always cheerful at the start--but at least her sore loser part is very quickly replaced anyway. It's just the initial shock like she's built herself up into winning by that point. ]

That is a miss, I am sorry to say.

[ She looks at her board. ]

D3?

[afailedmurder]

Miss!

[Takes a swig of his wine and reaches for a chocolate.]

[assent]

[ She's sipping slowly on her own wine, eyes on his face as he makes his decisions. ]

That was a miss, also. Um... H8?

[afailedmurder]

Miss.

[His expression is oh-so-serious as he looks over the board.]

B2.

[assent]

Miss.

[ She looks serious enough, but there's always a small tiny quirk to her lips, making it more like a smile. ]

D10.

Hit.

...I think you get to go again after that.

[Takes a red peg and another drink of wine.]

[assent]

Yes, I believe so. [ She looks thoughtful, listening out the squares until she gets 3 out of 5 of them, anyway. ]

How do you like the wine, by the way?

[afailedmurder]

It's good.

[Keeps on missing, and keeps on drinking.]

...I could use a bit more.

[assent]

Um... Akechi-san are you all right?

[ After the third ship is sunk, she has to... ask... ]

[afailedmurder]

I'm fine. It's just a game.

[The corner of his mouth twitches and he has another drink. But hey, he finally manages to sink a ship.]

[assent]

[ He keeps consuming wine so quickly though that she ends up reaching for the chocolates instead, picking one up and holding it out for him. ]

That is fine, then. Would you like another?

[afailedmurder]

Please.

[he's not going to not take a chocolate]

[assent]

[ She stretches her arm out, fingers holding the edge of it carefully so he can take it from her. ]

Then now you have sunk one of mine... I think I will try a different area. A2?

[ I can't remember where they were anymore but w/e ]

[afailedmurder]

[takes the chocolate and lifts it to his mouth, freezing in place as he checks the board]

Shit—

Sorry, hit.

[assent]

[ It isn't the fact that she hit another ship, but just that he swears that has a small laugh bubbling up. ]

My apologies. [ She lists off A3 and A4, sinking that ship as well. ]

[afailedmurder]

[Munches on his chocolate and fails to hit anything.]

[assent]

[ She probably didn't bring enough chocolate for this. After that fourth ship sinks and she seems to keep failing at this, rather than being able to end it herself, she offers: ]

Would you like to play something else instead?

[afailedmurder]

[frowns at the game, then smiles up at Sonia]

...Why don't we take a break and get to know each other a little better?

[assent]

[ I mean the royal family controls the military in her world maybe this was inevitable. Don't worry about it so much, Akechi... ]

That sounds perfect. Um... [ She tries to think of something to ask that won't bring the spiral that truth or dare sank into. ] What have you been doing at home now things have changed?

[ Hopefully!! That's upbeat enough. Shuichi was there with him now so she doubts things were quite as difficult. ]

[afailedmurder]

[It's a good enough topic, as it sets him off rambling.]

Oh, I've been very busy. I had a bit of a... let's say a time skip, going back with Kurusu, thus missing the chance to take college examinations and losing my apartment, but fortunately enough I managed to escape Nope's Peak with a suitcase full of American currency. Once it had been properly laundered, we were able to find a new place, acquire false documentation for Saihara-kun, pay off my legal fees, buy lots of dog toys, and still have enough left to start up our detective agency— one must hit the ground running, after all.

[assent]

[ Wow that sure is. A lot of stuff.

She stays quiet as he explains, leaning back in her seat to get comfy, sipping at her wine as he goes through all the details of it all. ]

Despite the difficulties, it seems as though you are quite forward thinking.

I'm determined, at the very least. As long as my cute boyfriend is happy and my scumbag father is suffering, that's all I need. So I'll do whatever's necessary.

[ That sure is one hell of a sentence, Akechi. ]

That is true, I cannot imagine you backing down easily. And... I am certain Saihara-san is lucky to have you.
