Day 11 - Aint no party like a poker party

[ There was definitely something like a weight being lifted after finding out about what had happened to her before, and while she definitely does want to think about it more properly later (especially after speaking to Mikan) she had promised an evening to try and lighten the mood after what today's event was.

A bit like a TLC party where they could maybe not be upset for once and have a good time.

Her room has been shifted around to reflect this. The desk has been pulled out in front of the bottom of the bed so one person can sit at that corner. The chair from the desk is on another side and the love sac Yusuke gave her as a gift from that event is on the other. On the floor in the corner are a bunch of bottles of different wines, with a bucket to the side with ice for the whites.

There are two packs of cards on the table, too. Just so they can change decks here and there like they do in the movies. (Also because she knows Allen is a cheater smh)

The last touch before they arrive is actually a Lot more embarrassing and she has to work up the courage to do it. It had taken a while in the prop room for her to find anything that looked anything like what a girl in a casino could wear that was a little more... risque but.

She settles on this and pulls a trench coat on top of it to save herself the embarrassment from the start. She also hung up a spare outfit in her bathroom just in case she chickens out as soon as they're there, too, because this is Not Something she would normally do at all.

Now it's just a question of sitting and waiting, really. ]

[Did you know Rin is absolutely rude and doesn't knock so much as he shouts into a door after he has already opened said door?]

Hey Sonia, I'm here!

[Because that is absolutely what he is doing.

He's also switched back to his t-shirt and jeans, opting not to wear the fancy suit from party night. He figures this will be some kind of casual thing, so he doesn't bother putting on the suit he has now. Because that takes effort.

He does notice the alcohol when he walks in, though.]

Oh, so it's going to be that kind of a party?

[Allen also came dressed normally, gloves on as always.

he shuts the door behind himself before actually taking in the set up but looks a little bemused about the alcohol.]

I've never really actually drank much...

[booze is expensive. ask him how he knows.]

[ I mean in all fairness, does he even need to knock anymore. But it's fine, she's all set up and ready by the time he barges in with Allen behind him anyway. ]

I thought it would be nice to unwind after... everything. [ Her smile is sheepish. ] Though they are all different types as I was not sure which you would prefer. We do not actually have to drink it all.

I don't think we could even if we tried anyway.

[He has not had much alcohol before, but his weed experiences have taught him that his tolerance for mind-altering substances is about what a human's would be.

But look at him, being the bold one and grabbing a bottle to bring over to the table. It looks fruity so that should be a good one.]

[guess who has no idea how his metabolism, affected by parasitic Innocence, will take to mind-altering substances.

he claims the seat on the desk, perching atop it easily.]

Well, I meant more... I don't really know what to expect for myself. So. Please look after me, in that case.

[ Sonia blinks at that, though... does not mention she could probably give it a good go if she really wanted to. You kind of... get used to it. ]

I am sure you will be fine with just a little. Either way, you made a good choice for something light and sweet. Would you mind pouring it out while I set up the game? I will be dealing today.

[ She pauses, hesitant, then points up to the fake ears on her head and she's already placing one set of the cards on the bed behind her and shuffling the rest. ]

[Are those bunny ears?

It's actually enough to get Rin to pause right before he pours, and he looks to Allen with a raised eyebrow. Does he have any idea what Sonia is doing?]

[clearly Rin has never been to the gambling halls Allen has been to thanks to his master because.... uhhhh. bunny ears... yep. UHHHH...

rather than explaining, he just takes the bottle Rin to continue with the pouring.]

Ah, that's a smart move. Dealer always has the advantage.

[ Clearly he has not... though she hasn't been either, television just teaches you a wide variety of things when it's your only friend.

She puts the cards down in front of Rin as Allen pours out his drink. ]

Cut the deck, please. Though ah, I admit I am probably the least familiar with the rules, so if I do anything wrong please feel free to say.

[Rin doesn't frequent gambling halls, no. But he's seen enough pictures to know what bunny ears mean, and he's eyeing that coat cautiously as he cuts the cards.]

Sure, here you go.

[The ears and the suspicion are enough to make Rin forget that Allen is a dirty rotten cheater too, so he doesn't insist on Allen rolling up his sleeves this time.]

[what a good Rin who forgets these things.

he finishes pouring and takes the glass for him in one hand while watching the cards get cut.]

You're doing great so far, Sonia.

[assent]

[ To be fair, she's also forgotten now they're both there and she's still wearing this outfit under the coat. She's too embarassed and trying to pretend she isn't to think about the cheating now. ]

Ah-- Thank you. [ She'll deal out one round of cards, then another until they all have 5 each. She doesn't pick hers up yet though, doing it as how Tohsaka showed her but also because it's her turn to pour her drink. ]

Would you like to discard any?

[Rin scoops up his cards and looks at them for a moment before tossing two down to pass back.]

That'll be good for me.

[He looks up to wait for his cards, though he sees that Sonia hasn't picked up hers and now he's watching her curiously. What is she up to?]

[h-hm...

puts down two also to trade in.]

So... is this a practice round? Or will there be betting?

[Allen Walker: card shark who is all about them bets.]

[assent]

[ She'll give them both two new cards each, taking a sip (more like a gulp) of her drink because. Well. ]

There will be betting, will there not? [ That's to Rin. ] I believe you had something in mind yesterday before we became preoccupied?

[ She's going to look at her cards now though, hopefully this was how Tohsaka did it she's Doing Her Best. ]

Yeah, we were gonna do clothes, right? It might be more fair now too, since Allen and I don't have like a million layers.

[Sorry guys, he's just like this.]

[i mean... not wrong.

but also like. going red in the cheeks because look, he's gotten men down to their underwear plenty of times, but not. ladies.]

... that sounds like a good bet. One article per round? Or can we up the ante?

[assent]

I came prepared as well.

[ Meaning the coat she's got on, covering... what she's wearing. Also accessories. ]

I can agree to upping the ante if you would like? Rin?

[ Your call here, as she clearly discards two cards as well, picking up two others in a way that shows she's being fair here. Besides that, she hasn't changed expressions at all, keeping a small, simple smile on her lips. ]

Sure. We can start with one, but if you want to bet more, you can.

[Though knowing how he gets into games, he'll probably end up betting too much and end up down to his boxers in like three hands. Whoops. At least he's comfortable enough around Allen and Sonia that it wouldn't bother him.]

Haa... Rin's going to be the first one out of clothes, then.

[doesn't even prevent the kind of teasing malicious look that crosses his face at that.]

[ She does actually look sheepish at that. Poor Rin... ]

Um, well... I am very new to the game as well so it could be either of us.

Speaking of which, as I do not remember who shows their cards first, me or the both of you...?

I think we can all show at the same time.

[Rin has a pair of jacks and some other random cards.]

And don't get too cocky Allen, we can still beat you.

I'm sure you'll try your best.

[pair of threes and a trio of sevens]

Full House, sevens over threes.

[assent]

Sometimes trying is all that matters.

[ Not this time though, apparently. She has three two's, an eight and a six. ]

Though it seems you do take the first round.

[Rin just goes ahead and tosses a shoe aside. He's not betting big yet, nope.]

It's just the start, we'll be fine. I'll take the next round.

Please continue to do your best, Rin!

[but he's already folding his cards and passing them back over to Sonia.]

[assent]

[ Sonia is pulling off her first shoe as well, a lot more gracefully than Rin in that she places it next to the bed upright.

Then, she'll take the cards and put them aside. ]

Round two, then.

[ She'll deal out the cards again, not needing to shuffle this time as they still have plenty of deck left. ]

[And he immediately scowls as he throws three cards back. This hand might not be a winner for him either.]
